Big Butter Jesus has melted!

There was a calamity in Monroe, Ohio this past week.  A 62-foot statue of Jesus was struck by the finger of God and sent exploding and burning to the ground.  It took all of 7 minutes for it to go from being Jesus to 62-feet of steel sticking into the air.  A lot of people seem to be heartbroken by this loss but then there is a very large group of us that are saying.....good riddence.  Now don't get me wrong I am a believer in God and all things that he created but I was offended by this monstrosity of a statue.  Now God did say in the bible "that there were to be no graven images of things that are in heaven......." (Exodus 20).  I think that this statue would qualify as one of those graven images.

The pastor and his wife who have this church are "worshipped" by their congregation. They seem to believe everything that comes out of the mouth of these two people.  Poor misguided people.  They make you feel guilty if you don't put money in the collection plate by saying things like "if you don't put money in the plate how will your loved ones be saved, how will your friends be saved etc. etc..".  Now to me this is very wrong.  Now if my mind serves me correctly this is not how one goes about being saved.  I was saved at a tent revival that came through the small town in which I grew up in.  No one had to put money in a collection plate for this to happen.  All I did was walk to the front and give my soul to Jesus Christ.  No money exchanged hands.

They bilked their congregation out of the money to build this statue so you think that they would have built it out of better materials.  Okay the steel was fine but styrofoam and wood were another thing.  To top it off it was sitting right next to a lake.  Arms raised into the air toward the heavens was just helping it to say....HIT ME.  I mean any idiot could tell you sitting steel next to water is a great lightening conductor.  It doesn't matter if that steel is covered with styrofoam and wood it will still attract lightening.  After all lightening is a form of electricity.  That's why they tell you never to stand by a window with your hands in water while there is a thunderstorm going on outside.

Well the news coming from the Solid Rock Church is "He will be back" which means yes, they are building the statue once again.  After all it helps the truckers who are driving by on I-75 to know where they are at.  A majority of people don't really care to see it go back up.  Oh well, they got one message from God so I guess in the future they will get another.  Maybe they will heed it the next time.  By the way, I forgot to mention that the lightening bolt that hit the statue also went through the building and out the other right through Lawrence Bishop's name.  Is that a message from God or what?
